Default Using Sony Ericsson Mobiles Bought in UK, In Australia

Does anyone know how difficult or easy it is to get a Sony-Ericsson phone that was bought in the UK to work in Australia?

Cheers.

Cool.

Did you just simply buy a SIM from the Australian network provider? Any hacking involved?

Cheers.

I did. Went from Orange to Virgin. No problem. When I bought it, I did make sure that it was unlocked. SE seem to be a nightmare to unlock - unlike Nokia

If it's not unlocked your provider will unlock it for about £20 - or your local dodgy dealer should do it for a tenner

My old SE would not unlock, went down legitimate channels, tried the internet, visited markets, gave it to dodgy dealers - all had a go, more than once and no one could do it So had to buy a new one.

That sucks
Got my K750i unlocked no problem took them 2 minutes connected to a laptop. A real pain that SE make it so difficult though - most other phones can be unlocked using the phone keypad.

It was almost amusing in the end. Would hand it over, they would say no problem, piece of cake, oh that's strange, let's try again - sorry can't help I liked that phone as well

Don't think so - it was supposed to be Q3. Then again there's so many new Kxxx Wxxx models coming out I loose track, K800 looks nice too but maybe that's because I like my K750 so much

My K750i came unlocked as standard - got it Carphone Warehouse - in fact all the phones I've had from there (four and counting) have been unlocked. I just plugged in a $30 Voda sim and it worked fine. Or at least it did until I inadvertently took it surfing with me. Hoping not to repeat that with its replacement.

Should be fine providing it's dualband at least and better if it's unlocked. Took my vodafone nokia out and it just went straight over another provider once out there, you can however pick up Aus sim cards on ebay and a few other places in UK
However if you can cover my flight expenses I can take my K700i to test it out fully for you and give a detailed report upon my return

Are you prepared to travel as a second class envelope?
