Using a solicitor for the house build
Hi all.
Just a quickie. We've just completed on our land purchase and our house build is now at the preliminary contract stage. My question is, should we also use a solicitor for the house build process or is it common here only to use a solicitor for the land purchase? We've not had any advice to use a solicitor for the house build whereas we were strongly urged to obtain a solicitor for the land purchase? Que passe? Cheers. |
Re: Using a solicitor for the house build
No, you do not need a solicitor for a house build. (In my experience, they know bugger all about building houses anyway!!) What you do need is a very good builder, one who will answer all your questions, keep an eye on his tradesmen and keep it all moving along nicely. The local authorites, by way of a Building Inspector, are responsible for checking out various aspects of the building process, such as foundations, electricals, etc.

The sparky is responsible for the electrical. This is only a compliance inspection and NOT a quality control inspection. A GOOD builder? Yes there are a few ....... WW |
