Default Upate from Brox in Oz

Hi all

Well what a week we have had.

As you know we arrived last Sunday and we havent stopped since.

Mr Brox got a job on the Tuesday so we had to go into overdrive with the house hunting as we are staying with my Parents 1.5 hours away from where work is!

Struggled a bit to find somewhere to live, but finally found a house on Thursday. We move in on the 21st May. Its a 4 bedroom 2 bathroom house, 1 year old and very clean, its costing $185 per week (Just incase anyone wanted an Idea)

The car was tricky as well. We found that second hand cars over here hold there price well, so to us they seemed expensive. Anyway we have got sorted out with one for me, Mr Brox just needs to go out and buy himself a work car, but we can pick up an old ute or something simular for a couple of grand.

The kids are fine and are settling in well, the fact that they can go and play on the beach seems to be helping!!!

Anyway we are going on Monday to buy some white goods and have been told that if we go in with cash to places like retro vision they will give us discount, so watch this space!!

Well thats our news this week from down under. We will keep posting, good or bad!!

Keep the bartering up, if they're not knocking enough off say Harvey Norman/Good Guys etc have offered a better deal & start walking away! I took a good haggler with me but found it hard not to laugh at her cheek. Worth it though. Then when they knock the price down ask them for warrntees at cost price.

Good luck

Bunbury is about 2 hours south of Perth, WA, on the coast. (if there isn't another Bunbury somewhere else)
I think it would be seen as a big town, not sure how many people live there.

Bunbury is on the west coast about 2 hours south of Perth. Its is classed as a city and has a population of around 20,000. What we liked about it was the suburbs are quite small and friendly, we are about 10 mins from fantastic beaches and the city is a stones throw away. The centre itself is quite new looking and has loads of shops ( Mr Brox is not that fussed about shops, but I couldn,t live without my fix).

Default Bunbury

At last, somebody on here that has gone to Bunbury. I lived there as a kid in the early seventies. My best memory was swimming on the back beach with its huge waves. Had a video sent by some relatives recently and can't believe the changes, its so modern now. All the houses we used to live in are still there which was surprising. Toying with the idea of a holiday next year visiting rellies etc. Just got to talk wife round.

Good Guys knock off a bit if you pay cash. Offer less cash than the ticket price anywhere and they'll take it.

Try Beepworld (in Brisbane but might be everywhere) for factory second whitegoods which usually have a small dent or scratch.

2 hours from Perth huh? That's a suburb in Sydney!
