Unwanted Junk Mail in email
Is it just me or has anyone else since becoming a member of a 'Forum' started getting lots of emails from Ghana asking to put millions in their bank account?
I only subscribe to this forum and the Britvics and created an alternative email account just for this as I didn't want nutters having my pesonal email account (no offence to you nutters on this Forum - sorry Bordy). I've never had anything like this in my 'true' personal account.
I just wondered if anyone else is having unwanted Junk Mail and thought I might suggest to people who are thinking of joining the forum to create a seperate "Forum email account"
Appreciate any feedback,
LJJ

You don't need to send your millions all the way to Ghana Louise, I'll send you an address in Ferntree Gully.

I have a hotmail account and have had it for many years and very rarely receive junk mail at all. I have also been registed on this forum for over a year so I dont think it can come from here.

"you've won a Million, honest"
"lose 5 stone is a week"
"earn $100,000 in a week, sitting in your bed eating toast"
"want to look like Liz Hurley/Brad Pitt (delete as appropriate) without surgery ?"
I work in Risk Management and amazed at how truly gullible some folk are. Actually quite depressing.

Re: Unwanted Junk Mail in email
We got my grandparents set up with a computer before we left to keep in touch but I do worry about this sort of thing. He just doesn't understand that these things are cons and has enough difficulty with the junk mail and irritating phone calls trying to con him out of his money (not that he has any) . I just have to hope that his limited understanding of computers means that he will only ever deal with the few things that we have shown him and that the spam should be limited.
We've not had any problems from this site though.

I think its because the service providers Terms and conditions have probably changed over the years and maybe newly created accounts are more accessible to other mailing lists etc. Or maybe the details are held on servers that maybe arent as secure as the original ones...
