Re: University Question
No honours included on the degree at least the one i will be doing, hence the question.
I think it goes like Degree - Honours - Masters - PhD.
If i am wrong, someone please correct me...

Re: University Question
I am hoping to be offered a place on a 4 year BEd here, starting feb 2006. Here it's a regular degree with the option of going for honours later on - i.e you take more electives and assignments on in your 3rd and 4th year.

In terms of further study, your best hope is to look at individual university websites. Australia's top 8 universities are http://www.go8.edu.au
Your visa status is going to be a critical factor too.

I am not sure if I am answering your question, looking at the other answers, but in most Australian degrees honours is an invited option at the end. That is after you receive your undergraduate degree.
You can do your masters & Phd if you pay at any time after completing an undergraduate degree.
If you are keen do come to Australia before you finish have you enquired about completing your UK degree via correspondence in Aus? I am doing it this way I am off to Aus and I have yet to finish my undergrad / honours degree and I am finishing it over there.
Good luck

No a degree from other than the 'top 8' does not mean it is a less than desirable degree.
For example if you want to do engineering in Victoria Swinburne uni has one of the best and most diverse courses.
If you wish to do a correspondence degree the University of New England in Armidale has excellent 'off campus' facilities via the internet etc. This is how my sister did her law degree (no job problems).
It may also depend on how you want to specialise. Monash University has a better (or it did when I was there) Asian languages department than Melbourne. Those at Melbourne look with a snobbish eye at those at Monash.
If you live in the country (which lets face it alot of Aussies do) the major city universities are simply not practical unless they move and this is not always an option (Sydney is very expensive)
Good luck on your choice.

I am in the midst of applying to do a four year BEd at JCU (Cairns campus). To be perfectly honest, I haven't even looked into the possibility of other universities having 'better' facilities / schools for the course I want to do. I am 'stuck' in Cairns (not a bad place to be stuck though!) due to family commitments etc.
Whatever JCU has to offer me (which seems good, in my limited opinion) is going to have to be good enough.
Thanks again.

Re: University Question
Hi All,
Thanks for the replies, my plan is to do the 3 years here in the Uk (i will be doing a degree in Science for those interested), and in the mean time save some £££ so I can do the honours and possibly the masters in Australia . I had in mind doing everything in Australia, but after creating a financial plan it was way too expensive, so at least now I can do my degree here and save for the next 3 years.
University wise in Australia I was looking at University of Queensland my obvious choice since I have a few friends in Brisbane, been there a few time so I know the place relatively ok.
Cheers
Pedro

Monash is also Group of Eight, but not at the top of the scale.
The University of New England is not Go8, but has a perfectly respectable reputation. On the other hand, some other non-Go8 universities are not taken all that seriously by employers. It's no different to the UK.
