Default Uluru (Ayers Rock)

Hi, can any one tell me how far the airport is from the resort at Ayers Rock?
Only spending a couple of days there and wanted to know if it's worth renting a car, as we will be doing the tours through tour companies.

Thanks
Suni

About 15/20 mins from the resort.

There is a coach that takes you from and to the resort from the airport so don't worry about a car. Enjoy!

Fly into Alice and get a great bus drive to Uluru, about 4-5 hours, or fly straight to Uluru, where it is about 20 minutes away.

Didn't do that - too damn expensive.

Anyhoo, here are some photos to whet your appetite. http://www.hartill.net/RedCentre/

Don't miss the Olgas if you have time. They are impressive too.

yup. didn't do it, so not much else to base the dislike on . I eat to live, not live to eat, so it just seemed ridiculous to me to pay so much for a feed.

we did it a couple years back
dinner by starlight or something
can't remember how much but thought it was worth it
very touristy but what'd you expect

bus drops you off just before sunset
drinks and canapes as the sun sets
didj in the background and diff colours of the rock as the light changes
follow candle lit path down to dinner
tables in the sand, big dinner
astrologer/astronomer(?) talks about the stars
few telescopes set up to have a look
that's about it

Sounds lovely but were the flies a problem? or isn't it so bad there?
