I have got the forms to apply as we leave for the rebate for tax paid april and may this financial yr but is it worth doing ?? did anyone actually get any money back .........

You should get all your tax back(unless you've earnt more than your allowance), so definately worth applying for it.

I've got the hubby working weekends as we should be able to claim it all back.

Left England to work abroad on another occasion and got all of the tax back I had paid. Used form P85. From what I remember it was actually pretty quick - about 6 weeks - and came in the form of a cheque, but it now looks as if it can go straight to a bank account.

Although it wasn't a massive amount it paid for the deposit on our flat rental plus a few !

My pension managers screwed up in that when they received the order from the IR to cease taking tax off my pension, they refunded *all* the tax I'd paid that tax year as well!

The bad news was that when I did the final UK tax return for that year, from Oz, the IR took most of it back...

Yep, P85 I think. Me and hubby got about 1500 pounds back between us. It was paid straight into our uk bank account about 8 weeks after we put the claim in.
