UK Tax back - estimate?

UK Tax back - estimate?
Does anyone have an idea of how much tax you are entitled to be get back if you leave before the end of tax year?
I know you need to fill in a P85 and send it off, but it would be good to have some idea of rebate, for relocation budgeting.....
We leave end November, so I guess that is 8 months in the UK for this tax year...

no NIC
Assuming you are a 40% tax payer where you have gross income of over £37295 for the 8mth to Nov & have basic Personal Allowance
PA: 4895* 1/3 *40% = 653
starting rate 2090* 1/3 *(40%-10%) = 209
basic rate 32400-2090 * 1/3 *(40%-22%) = 1818
total £2680
This is a simple rough estimation on several assumptions as it depends on your particular circumstances and of course how much tax you have paid to date in this tax year - things like P11d benefits and other income sources may affect amount due.

Contact your Inland Revenue office (ask your payroll office for the number) and ask them to do the calculation based on what you will earn and how much tax you will have paid by then.

PS I have a an excel calculator which will work it out what you would get if you left now but my payroll skills aren't advanced enough to project to November. PM me your email and I will forward it to you with instructions. I tried to attach it to this post but had some problems.
