I am wondering if there are any other UK Qualified lawyers on here that are able to advise on how they managed to secure work/sponsorship for a VISA?

You would need to be admitted by one of the states legal boards. If you contact the one for the state you are interested in they will advise. You will need to undertake a fair bit of study first. Which modules will vary person to person.

Oh and you do not need a job or have an employer sponsor you in order to get a visa. You can apply independently.
