Hello

I apologise if this is an area already been covered before. But does anyone know an easy way of transferring money (Uk Pounds into Australian Dollars) avoiding commisions charges etc?

Cheers

Get yourself a Nationwide 'Flexaccount' and use ATMs. It's a bit of an aggravation moving large quantities as there's a limit of A$ 1k on withdrawals (and for some daft reason ATMs don't issue hundred dollar notes), but with a joint account you can pull fourteen grand (australian) across in a week.

Nationwide exchange at the bank rate and don't charge a fee or commission, the rates I've got are always within half a cent per pound sterling of those quoted at oanda.com

Me too - would recommend them, especially if you're just trnf a small amount, so no bargaining power as such.
