UK police check for Citizenship
I am in the process of applying for Australian Citizenship, having been here for 2 years. On the Citizenship application form/notes it states that if you have lived outside Australia for more than 1 year since being granted a visa you have to provide overseas police certificates. As we were granted our visas in 2002 but didn't actually emigrate until 2005 we presumably fall into this category and need to provide these certificates. We lived in England. Has anyone else been in this situation and know how to, and where to apply for them from Oz? I remember getting them done for our visas back in 2001, but that was easy as all I had to do was walk into the local cop shop in Portsmouth, pay a tenner etc.
I found the info in form 47p vague as it states the Data protection act and gives reference to the UK police website but neither threw up anything concrete after searching the web.
Any help/guidance gratefully received,
Cheers..
