Talking UK Pension whilst on Holiday

Hi Guys , just a quick question .
If my mother in law comes to Australia on holiday for 3 MONTHS , can she claim her UK pension whilst she's here ?
Any links or anything appreciated.
Thanks in advance ,
Tass.

Hi, Tass, don't know what the situation is in UK; however, here you must advise DSS if you are holidaying out of the country so that they can stop additional payments (for medicines etc.,) while you're away. If your absence is to be for less than six months, they will continue to pay the pension into the stipulated bank account. You can then get a card on that account which will allow you to withdraw from banks and/or ATMs in the country you're visiting.
I followed the above procedure when I went to NZ for 3 months last year and had no problems. But to avoid any hiccups, I'd get her to telephone her local DSS office well before her departure to make sure that all goes smoothly.
