How do you go about renewing a UK passport while resident in Oz?

We fly out this weekend to Perth, but in the summer my five year old's passport will expire. The UK passport office are a waste of time.

spoke to them recently when renewing ours. they mentioned that you can do it in oz if they expire out there at the british something or other so dont worry

I think the British Consulate (?spelling) is what you will need.

You will have to send it to the High Commission in Canberra. They are cheaper to renew in the UK.
