UK Immigration Officer - equivalent in Oz?
I work as an Immigration Officer in the UK - is it possible/easy to do the same kind of job in Australia? Whats the pay like, and is it one of the jobs on the Highly Skilled/Skilled Occupations lists?

It is also an called an Immigration Offficer. The downside is that to do the job, you have to be an Australian Citizen, so it will not be on a Skills list.

Don't lose heart though, many government agencies (defence, police for 2) recruit laterally. There may be scope to do the same. Why not email the immigration people? All you have to lose is time...

Rather makes a mockery of the advertised criteria that states that you have to be a citizen then.

For Federal Govt jobs they will often accept PR, as long as you are eligible, or will soon become eligible, for citizenship. State Govt - in some States - accepts PR for perm jobs, but I think all Immigration Officer jobs will be citizenship. Certaily DIMA insist on it.
