Are UK Children's Car Seats ok in Aus?
Hi
One of the removal companies who has provided a quote mentioned that not all car seats are allowed in Aus? Ours are Britax. Can anyone shed any light on this? I've tried looking online at relevant websites but no luck.
Thanks
R

If they don't have the Aussie tick of approval then no.

You can use them, but your run the risk of insurance problems were there to be an accident. In a worse case scenario where your child was hurt and needed medical care, the insurance company can use your use of an un-approved restraint as reason to not pay out.

Legally no.....one accident and a claim comes up and you will have nothing to stand on. Buy one when you get here, a penny spent is a pound saved!!

A recent arrival tried it with bringing their brand new car seats.
Had small accident and insurance company refused to pay out after discovering the non compliant seats.
Accident and damage completely unrelated to seats.
Now they have the difficulty that there claim was refused and policy cancelled.
Every new insurance company asked the question "Have you had insurance in the last 5 years cancelled" or "claims refused"

You can also be fined for using 'illegal' seats. It's a lot cheaper to replace the seat than pay for a fine

Thanks all, sounds like not bringing them is the better option, will save space on the container too. Thanks again guys, all your feedback much appreciated!

I bought a couple off an Aussie migrant when I took the grand kids to UK on a holiday - you might find a returnee interested in buying them!

Thanks quoll, just had confirmation from Britax in Aus that our seats are not to Aus standards so not fit for purpose. Thanks for the tip about returnees, will see if any want them, I have 3 of them for 3 yrs plus!

Well......if you don't use a Australian car seat then expect to be fined...here is some news from today in NSW http://smh.drive.com.au/motor-news/e...023-2w04l.html
