UK Born Population In Australia On Decline
Over a ten year period the UK born population declined from 5.7% to 5.3% between 2003 to 2013 according to ABS.
The UK overall still maintains the largest share by far of foreign born populations but as mentioned is in decline. It is an aging population as well with the average age at the last 2011 census being 54 years of age. Up three months on the 2006 census.
After the UK the next highest in order are...... as of June 2013
New Zealand has 2.6% of the entire population.
China 1.8%
India 1.6%
Vietnam 0.9%
Which make up the top five nations and percentage terms of the entire population.
Over a ten year period 2003 to 2013 while the UK declined the others increased.
New Zealand went up from 2.1% to 2.6%
China 1.6% to 1.8%
India 0.6% to 1.6%
In terms of highest percentage birth increase,
Nepal was top at 23.6%
India second at 12.0%
Pakistan third at 11.4%
Bangla Desh at 10.9%
Sudan fifth at 9.2%
The biggest decreases were,

Re: UK Born Population In Australia On Decline
∴ UK-born population 2003 = 1.1343m
Australian population 2013 = 23.13m
∴ UK-born population 2013 = 1.2259m
So over the period the UK-born population in Australia increased, just not as fast as the overall population increased (which given the increased immigration from India, China, SE-Asia, is no great surprise.
The growth rate is ~0.8% per annum, which is greater than the UK growth rate (inc immigration) of 0.5-0.6% per annum.

Yes while UK numbers slightly increased the overall percentage terms fell. This could be expected to be an ongoing trend, as other nations mostly within the neighbourhood increase in both number and percentage terms.

Interesting to witness the rapid rise of India in migrant numbers. The rise to number one position appears to have been a painless operation.

Very obvious on BE over the last few years. Very unusual now to see queries in the Immigration forum from the UK, It was taken over almost 100% by would-be migrants from the Indian subcontinent about 4 years ago and has stayed that way ever since.

I have read quite large Indian numbers are quitting as well. I know of three that returned. Citing more opportunities in India and life too hard in Australia.

I have never seen so many Asians anywhere as much as Brisbane. I would estimate 30-40%.

You dont have to go far from brisbane to find almost entirely white skinned population Kids primary school had over 1000 kids, first school photos show 2 dark skinned families, seriously that was all. Plus later on a handful of Asian children.
Coming from UK I found it very very odd.
Sons UNI in Melbourne is Total opposite.

Probably worth pointing up this census derived map again
Where Australia's immigrants were born | SBS World News
least anything think the English don't still have a significant grasp of the immigrant stakes in many areas.

Next map will be of interest seeing the rate of population increase and complexion due to migration since 2011.
Still some catching up to overtake UK born population but it is happening.
