Default U.K. House prices increasing ...

Hard to beleive that U.K. property is still on the increase, house prices are up 4% on the first quarter of this year,

What do you know

Cheers,

Very hard to believe - they were queueing up to buy houses in my road in Autumn 02, now it's dead and prices are getting dropped all the time.

Default Slow Market

Very slow market here at the moment and surprisingly a few houses around my house have just gone on the market in the last few days, so maybe they know something i don`t.

Before we bought the house we were in it had been on the market for nearly two years and had dropped in price considerably we just happened to be luck to get it cheap.

Hoping market doesn`t drop until after i have sold and that could be years yet.

Probably the last few houses selling through making that figure true. Agents all saying market has moved back to more 'normal' status and not the madness of the last year. Caught lots of agents unaware, and god forbid they have to get off their fatted backsides and start actively 'selling' them again.....

Everyone is still trying to cash in on the boom afraid they miss selling at the peak, so no doubt they'll either withdraw when they realise the gold rush is over, or start reducing, and creating the deflation of the south...

Certainly a bit slow for me at the moment... I'm not bitter just impatient)

Mash..

i believe that the 'boat' has sailed by as regards house prices..

we are at the begining of a big recession
look at retail sales -they have just dropped off the edge
manufacturering has been dead for age's
job losses are increasing
house repro's are going up fast
pound has plummeted
shares fallen heavily

several here (including myself) said as much back in dec/jan

i only hope this doesn't scupper anyone's dreams...

cheers

Problem is, no matter what the papers say, you can only ask what someone else is prepared to pay. Our house has been on the market going on 12 weeks, we've had two viewings, and they've both been time wasters. We've already dropped £10k, I hope we don't have to drop anymore. We still have time on our hands, but it is a major worry!!!

Good luck to all, it only takes one person to fall in love with your property!! Please send that person round!
Hazel.

Hi Richard,

That lot above looks and sounds depressing

Anyone would have thought that P.B. had written it

On a different note, what's the score with the rubber dollar, are we all going to nail it later this year,

Any thoughts,

Cheers,

sorry forgot tabs button is also 'send' button...

1 america -as above
2 france -doing badly
3 germany -in recession
4 rest of europe -stagnant
5 japan -in recession for nigh on 10 yrs

g. brown tried to convince us that we were some how 'above' the rest of the world as regards being recession proof.

somehow i feel that he thought he would be PM before the s**t hit the fan -

however -as usual- 'trust me tony' was, err- 'conservative with the truth'

personally i think we're collectively stuffed for 5 yrs or so..

however on the bright side the au/nz house price boom is slowing too...

cheers

I also heard that the OZ property market is going to throw a wobbler early 2004 and that interest rates are most likely to go up up and away er ... good for us pommies with pound notes but bad for changing our pennies at the good ole days rate of 2.97,

So does this mean the rubber dollar will get stronger sob sob

Cheers,

Very depressing end to day. I am sure most people waiting to sell their homes hoping to move to OZ in the next few months are completely suicidal now.

Try to keep positive even if those around don`t.

we put house 10 weeks ago and have had 4 views. i was shocked when told that one selling price was 10,000 more than another pricing. your allways hearing something to keep you happy wether your selling or buying. we will drop price to a lower bracket just to get more viewers because weve made the decision to emigrate mid 2004.
probably like most others just wanting to go.

good luck to all.

The global slowdown is probably going to hit australia as well...personally doubt that they'll have 4.2% growth this year, but I guess we'll see how things go. For the last couple of years the OZ economy has been kept moving by house buying and consumer spending and population growth...same as UK (apart from popualtion growth). Personally think that worldwide alot of economies are heading into rough water, not just UK or OZ.
