Is it better to take over sterling travellers chqs or aussie dollar cheques

we took aussie travellers chqs when we went so you know exactly what you have in real money when you cash them into cash use abank and not the travelex kiosks because there commision is high. au$500=au$40commision while in the banks it was just a token charge.
