Default traveling on new passport with married name but visa in maiden name in old passport

Hi

When my PR visa was granted for Australia it was in my maiden name. Since then I have married and got a new passport in my married name. The PR visa is in my old passport but still under my maiden name. Does anybody know whether i can travel on my new passport and take my old passport (with the visa in my old name in it) and my marriage certificate with me when going back to OZ or will i need to have the visa re issued in my new name.

Thx Lisa

Take your old passport, your new passport and your marriage certificate. I travel all the time with my old and new names/passports, with never a problem.
Good luck!

when we married HE changed HIS name to mine.... we've just had to get used to carrying ALL our paperwork with us at all times as NO ONE understands this....

These days, it's simpler not to change name on marriage.

If you must do so, you will probably need to (after you arrive in Australia) get a certificate of name change from the birth/marriage registry of your state. It will be needed when you apply for citizenship, for example, if your visa is in original name.

I agree, so much easier not to change it in the first place. Wish I hadn't
Though I will give DIAC full marks for agreeing to grant citizenship in my maiden name even though my visa and UK passport are in my married name.
