Question Travel Insurance on a one way ticket?

Got our flights booked, need to sort out travel insurance how long do we need to take it out for, just a couple of days or do we do it for a couple of weeks ? ?

just wondered what other people have done when they have moved over to Oz! Was thinking of using the Post Office anybody else used them ?
What happens if you need to claim say if your luggage gets lost or damaged does it not matter that you are not in the Uk to claim.

Thanks Hazel

Go walkabout and the post office has been mentioned a few times. I think it covers you for 17 days. Im going with go walkabout. You should do a search and see what comes up for you.

Hi

Looked at Go Walkabout.
For 2 people it is costing £73.00 for oneway which i think is very good.

Go Walkabout, we used them last year and they were good. Policies arrived the next day and I think it was about 16 or 17 days you were covered for after you arrived, so it gives you time to get set up.

We used 'Go Walkabout' & spoke to Harrold Lawrence who was very efficient & helpful.

The insurance covered us for 45 days of travel from the UK, South Africa, New Zealand & Oz. We were on holiday for 38 of the 45 days so were covered for our 1st week in Oz. The cost was £200 for 2 adults & a toddler.

We first took out a policy with go walkabout and then realised that they only covered single items up to £500 and we need a £1000 cover for our laptop tried to upgrade insurance but was over double the fee :scared: we then went with the post office which was only about £20 or £30 more than walkabout and covered the £1000 we needed, as for claims this is a specispecialrance for 1 way and migration so claims can be made outside of the uk, I think the most you can be covered for is 17 days from depaudepartureour front door in the UK

Hope this helps
