Default Travel insurance or not?

Heres a question. Since i am an Ozzie resident and will be moving back there in a month or so. Will i need travel insurance? I dont believe i would as you pay into Medicare anyway.. I havent lived in Oz since i got my PR. Any suggestions guys and girls?

It's such a hindsight thing this isn't it.
However, aside from personal belongings etc.....another example........
Freak accident, or illness, in another country. Perhaps you are having a stop over. Expensive medical bills outside your country. Airlines won't let you fly so costly accommodation bills. It does happen.

So thata no then? Direct flight and no stop over. I am covered here by Bupa as my wife gets it through her job and i also have emergency cover through mine. But only in Thailand.

You will be covered by Medicare - so don't need travel insurance for that (unless you do a stop-over but you say it's a direct flight).

But you will need travel insurance for your personal belongings in case they get lost or stolen while you are travelling and until you have arrnaged household insurance in Oz.
