Default Transferring money to/from OZ

Hi guys,

In need of advice regarding money transfer from OZ back to the UK. Unfortunatley the sale of our house has fallen through and we have to carry on paying the mortgage from Australia and were wondering the best way to transfer money from Australia into an English bank account.

Also what is the best way of transferring the capital that we wish to take with us without being charged rediculous amounts.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated as we go in 13 days. :scared:

I'm sure I answered this half an hour ago but the post has gone down the black hole!!
I use www.tranzfers.com every month - costs £7/$15 a go and takes about 4 days for the cash to get to the UK. Been using them for over a year with no problem. They move the money to your UK account, then you just leave a DD set up to pay the mortgage from there.

Hi, just after a bit of info. if anyone has some. Basically my husband is in the process of being police checked for a position in Richmond, Australia. We have an idea of the price for houses etc. as we have found some websites. However we have no idea of the cost of living in that area, I have been told by a friend who has visited Australia that it is no cheaper than back here (I currently live the Wales, UK). The salary my husband would be on would be a few thousand less than what he's on here but we were under the impression that money does go further in Oz, but is that not the case in Richmond as it's near Sydney?

Would be grateful for any information someone may have - thanks v much
