transferring money
Hi
Just need a little advise on how to transfer a small amount of money.
We used commonwealth London to transfer the proceeds of our house sae. We left some money in the UK bank account for odds and sods and now have approx £3,500 left that I wish to get sent over to me.
My Mum is a signatory on the account and is coming out on holiday in just under 2 weeks time but if she brings it with her, it won't leave a lot of the $10,000 that she is allowed to bring for her spending money.
How do I get the money over? Can she bring an English cheque and if so how does the bank change it or does she as for a UK cheque in AUD?
Thanks
Debs

you could alway's open an account with HIFX and then transfer it that way.
Write a cheque from the Uk account and the transfer should cost you nothing.

Re: transferring money
I think there is a charge if it is below a certain amount, the same as commonwealth.

For small amounts, use these guys: http://www.tranzfers.com/
If your UK account has internet banking, it's very easy to set up a transfer. If you do a search on the forum here, lots of people use them.

You can bring in more than $10,000. All you have to do is declare it.
