Transfering pensions
Hi all where do you start? Ive got 2 private pensions (20 years)and my wife has a final salary pension (15 years)
1. Is it worth transfering when we leave in june or wait till we get there/
2. Is it best to use a specialist? If so any recomendations?
3. We are both 40 ish now so would it be worth carrying on with state pension ? if so how?
4.Any other helpful hints would be great !!

Re: Transfering pensions
Hi
1. You don't have any choice but to wait. You need to have a receiving super fund and for that you need a job.
2. Unless there is some great complication with your circumstances I'd do the transfer yourself. Having selected the receiving super fund get the transfer forms, fill them in and send them off. Might take a couple of phone calls to hurry it along, but no real drama.
3. Err, dunno. When I last looked (2005) if you've been contributing for 10 years you'll have gained rights to a UK pension though dependant upon the amount of contribution not necessarily the full amount.
4. Do a search on BE for similar threads, there is a lot of info our there. What I felt was the definitive thread on the subject goes back to circa Feb 2005. It was rather a long thread and I remember posting on it, so maybe do a search.
