Training Grant for Victorians - Returning to Earning
I read about this grant on another Expat forum and thought I should share this information with other Victorians...

Basically, if you've been at home caring for your children and unemployed for 2 years+ and are a PR or citizen you can apply for $1K towards training to return to the workforce. I applied and received the grant about a week later.
I am currently undertaking an Introduction to MYOB and will be enrolling in Excel, Powerpoint & Access (I really need to refresh my knowledge) at our local community house. The added advantage to this, which I wasn't aware of, is that as I'm over 40 I get 40 hours of approved training for $75!!! I also only pay $2.75 per hour for their childcare programme (childcare can also be claimed).
As these costs have been so low, I've managed to enrol in a short course at Chisholm doing Executive Level Administration (would cost circa $500). I might even be able to squeeze another course in....
So, I'm very happy at getting my skills up-to-date and learning MYOB at no cost!!
So, I would encourage you to apply if this is relevant to you. There are only 206 grants left!
