For personal use:
One of those big esky thermos 4 litre water bottles. Stuff with ice (half), and add water. Will stay cold for ages. Fill/replenish from a large 20l one which is also ice/water which sits on the ute/truck. |

Denise, what time do they start and finish where you are? What are the temps like in the summer there? |

Re: Tradies - how do you cope?
I'm a brickie, started working in November here in Brisbane.
I have never felt anything like it! We start at 6am in the summer months and finish 2.30-3.00pm. 10 mins after you start work you are covered in sweat head to toe and uncomfortable for the rest of the day. Everyone does their best to work inthe shade but its hard to find. I take a 5L esky of water, a 2L frozen bottle of water for the afternoon and a 2L bottle to drink in the morning and they all get drunk. Had a bloke collapse with dehydration in January, he was only drinking coca-cola, in hospital for 2 weeks! I'm looking to find something else to do for the summer, not looking forward to it |

Re: Tradies - how do you cope?
I found last summer(my first here) that I quickly became used to being hot and soaked in sweat all day. The thing I didn't like was getting home in the evening and just being wasted from several hours of filtering litres of water through my body. I'm sure that is more energy sapping than the physical exertion of dragging my body through tight ceiling spaces, climbing/moving ladders and pulling cables here and everywhere all day.
