I'm just a little confused what certificate you mean??? Do you mean a full qualification to prove you are a qualified Panel Beater (City & Guilds or similar)?

All my Mechanics have to have a Trade Licence to prove they are technically qualified, is that what you mean? If yes it costs $65.00 + the cost of a police clearance.

http://www.docep.wa.gov.au/ConsumerP...cate/index.htm

All my 457 visa holders need the licence and due to the difficulty is proving the overseas qualifications, DOCEP are holding some in house tests shortly to test their technical abilities.

Here are the requirements for panel beaters

22. Painting work (PAW)

Definition:

1. means any work required to prepare for painting or to paint a panel, frame or other component of the body of a motor vehicle, otherwise than in the course of manufacturing the vehicle; but
2. does not include any of the following:
1. realigning the chassis of a motor vehicle;
2. realigning or repairing a panel, frame or other component of the body of a motor vehicle;
3. installing or removing any glass in the body of a motor vehicle,
other than installing or removing any moveable glass, if required.

Requirement: Certificate III in Automotive (Vehicle Body - Vehicle Painting) (AUR99) or Certificate III in Automotive Vehicle Body - Vehicle Painting (AUR05).
23. Panel beating work (PBW)

Definition:

1. means any work required to do any of the following:
1. to realign the chassis of a motor vehicle;
2. to realign or repair a panel, frame or other component of the body of a motor vehicle;
but
2. does not include installing, repairing or removing any glass (other than installing or removing any moveable glass) in the body of a motor vehicle.

Requirement: Certificate III in Automotive (Vehicle Body - Panel Beating) (AUR99) or Certificate III in Automotive Vehicle Body - Panel Beating (AUR05).

I do know people who have gotten here on a 457 with holding qualifications in their trade, but they did have to prove their ability to do the job and had to obtain a TRA (Trades Recognition Australia).

Cheers
Neil.
