TR to PR. How long?

I've just got my spouse TR visa and I'd like to know how long it takes till the Immigration Dept' give me my PR visa. Is it two years from first lodging the application? Or two years from being granted the TR visa?

On the website http://www.immi.gov.au/migrants/part...-100/index.htm it says that after getting PR, "you are permitted to enter or remain permanently in Australia WITH YOUR SPOUSE". Does that mean that despite having PR, I cannot remain in Australia without my spouse? What if she dies  ? Do I have to go home? Why do they word it like that if that's not the case?

You should expect to be contacted by DIAC close to 2 years after the date you lodged your spouse visa application. Remember to inform DIAC of any change in address.

You are expected to be in a genuine and continuing relationship with your spouse, therefore the permanent visa is granted on this basis. However, if your relationship breaks down after your permanent visa is granted, your visa remains valid, so long as there was no intentional fraudulent motive(s) on your parts when applying for your visa.
