Townsville meet-ups?
hello my wife and i are in our thirties and would love to meet some ex-pats to discuss the pros and cons of living out here in oz(townsville) i have been trying to find companies that sponsor us poms and i am not having much luck,my wife is getting lonely and would love to meet other brits for coffee etc.at the strand, we have a 5 year old boy who is still very home sick, please anyone reading this could offer direction to me finding a job(boilermaker) and some company for the wife and boy, we would be very interested, many many thanks for any replies

Alternatively, post a thread in the meet-ups section.
Once you have 3 posts you can send/receive personal messages & may be worth just sounding out those who are in Townsville to see what is going on.

Try the Council, always on the look out for skilled trades

Not that I'm aware of (unless they arnt telling me ) Really there should be given the amount of people here. They nearly happen all the time and then seem to fizzle out

hi again, its Dean of dean+kara,just been flicking through some of the posts on here and i generally get the idea that metal tradespersons are scarce,,As i couldnt get my working visa as the TRA wouldnt accept my uk quals in welding i have gone to the local TAFE to get RPLed,just so i could get recognised,am i right in saying once i have my work visa just take any job really to get work experience in oz and still apply for other welding jobs? is there a list of companies that are registered as sponsors? please could anyone give direction on what i should do as i have paid fortunes to so-called migration agents here and back in UK for crap advice?

Welcome to Townsville. Dont know anything about the job side but would be happy to meet up sometime. We have been here nearly 3 months now and are starting to settle, have 3 boys 9, 5 and 19 months
