Moving over to Townsville very soon, and have been looking at getting a car quite quickly. Can anyone please help in telling me how much a decent family tye car costs and the running cost etc...
Thanks

Re: Townsville Cars
This should give you an idea on the price of cars. But remember the advertised price is NEVER the price you pay.
www.pickerings.com.au
Petrol (unleaded) is about $1.05 at the moment.
Rego is approximately $600-700 per annum.
Fully comprehensive insurance around the $250-350 per annum mark. Assuming you have full no claims bonus (and you can transfer this).
Servicing every 6 months roughly $150-$200, but depends on individual circumstances.
Spare parts? Don't know, haven't needed any yet.
No de-icer required. So you save there!!!
Of course there may be unforseen costs, such as repairing the damage caused by scraping the automatic garage doors down the front bumper!!!
Generally, as with most things, running costs for cars are cheaper when compared to the UK, but there's not that much in it. The big difference is fuel.
Hope this helps.
