Hi there,
Just got a quote from Whites - as they have a local depot to us,
20 foot container, with 15 k insurance - approx 1/2 average household contents, including all taxes, and 8 weeks free storage here, just shy of 4k. they will either pack direct into container, then it's off to the port, or if you decide to store here, they will put in normal lorry and pack in container at depot. No need for special container as packing/wrapping sufficient for all eventuallities
Anglo pacific, excluding taxes/insurance/storage 4.4k
Guy from Whites very helpful, said there is a handling charge other end, can't remember how much but storage is per 28 days or part of 28 day peroid, so we thought we would store here until we are set up with permenent rental, the we wont incurr handling fee or storage fees - they charge for 28 days even if only stored for 1!!
We have a 4 bed house, are taking everything except 2 bedrooms of furniture and the garden furniture/tools - we will just scraped in so were told to prioritise, have some stuff that would be nice to go if space, but not essential.
So car boot sale here we come.
hope this is of help.

If you mean "White & Co." then you do *not* have insurance! Only limited/extended liability cover - that is *not* insurance.

White & Co are not authorised to sell insurance.

Limited/extended liability cover only pays out very small amounts, something like £40 per damaged box or a few hundred quid for larger items. Secondly, it only pays out if you can prove that the damage occurred while the goods were in the hands of the removal company AND they were negligent.

So, if the container lorry crashes after it leaves your house, damaging lots of stuff, but it wasn't the lorry driver who caused the accident - you would get nothing (because the removal company wasn't negligent).

If you get your stuff delivered in Oz and discover lots of damaged items - you would get nothing because you can't prove that the damage occurred while the goods were in the hands of the removal company (the damage may have occurred while the container was on the ship).

My 20ft container cost $4,800 with insurance. We used Crown, they were rubbish.

Our belongings were picked up the other week by Doree Bonner. Reefer 20ft container £3072 door to door, they export packed here, took back to their depot, free storage available (upto 4 weeks) until it shipped then includes delivery and they unpack at our home in Queensland. I itemised goods I wanted insurance on at rate of 2.5%, mainly husbands tools (lots of) and furniture. Total cost £3672.
Would certainly recommend Doree Bonner so far, staff were most helpful, though our stuff is still enroute to Brisbane.
Hope this helps. Lisa

A 20'' container should be dirt cheap, a 20' container well thats going to be a lot more pricey!
