Default Today - Living the dream

I think I have been pretty much down to earth about coming to Australia from the UK. We had a good life in central London but I hated the grey skies, the congestion, the expense and the winter months. Moving out here has been an experience. Like Germaine Greer's article somewhere else in the forum we have found the suburbs to be as reserved as London suburbs. Most Aussies here (Sidney) come home, open their automatic garage doors and go into their homes via an internal entrance. You hardly ever see them. So it is not "Neighbours". However in the few months that we have been here we have been able to take our children onto some lovely beaches, swim in blue seas and today was a highlight. I was invited along with the rest of my family to join a recently made friend on his boat in Sydney Harbour. We spent six hours sailing in and out of various bays, under the Harbour Bridge and stopping for lunch at a bustling Warf. The views were breathtaking -other boaties very friendly waving to our kids as we went past. If someone had told me I would be doing this a few months ago I would have thought "In my dreams" - Only problem is my lap top seems to be moving up and down and from side to side now

Met an Aussie last night and he, realising my usual Friday stupor, gave me his condensed opinion of life down under - “you’re gonna love it!. This I have no reason to doubt.

One week today we depart London Gatwick.
