Yeah i agree long term but at the moment interest rate rises in Oz are pretty much discounted within the price. There is a possibility that Oz will not increase rates as quickly given the economy may be more reflective of the government handouts and china stock rebuilding than a general recovery and both these are winding down. There is uncertainty creeping in as reflected in the two linked articles. I think watch the dow if that falls back to 8500 this month the aussie could take a step back.

Edited re spelling.

nobody really knows! You can watch bloomberg 24/7 and half the 'experts' will say $ down and half up and the following week they all change their minds!

Famous economist roubini said last week it will be a double dip 'W' shaped recession but today he was on a 'U' shaped!?

all just glorified guesses!

very true. As has been said before in relation to this area, if any of these people actually knew what will happen with as much certainty as they imply that they have, they would have given up working long ago and would be living on tropical islands rolling in mountains of cash.

Fact is, it's all interpretation and guesswork, much like weather forecasting !

If the stock markets go south again which alot of people seem to think is going to happen this will seriously impact the $AUD ...

... as the money goes back to so called "safe havens" $AUD will suffer.

My ISA's will go down but my $AUD value of savings go up!!

Where can I buy pounds or other country's currency with Aussie dollars online for profit when the exchange rate goes the other way?
