Just wondering whether anyone has advice on when is the best time to ship your wares before you leave for your new destination?

We're moving to Melbourne in mid-October "04 and we understand that with most shipping companies there is a 6 - 10 wk wait for your effects to land. We'll have the absolute barest essentials here in the U.K once we send our gear off, namely what we'll be taking with us on the flight (bar some kitchen/cooking equipment we'll end up turfing etc). When we get to Melbourne, we're staying with Family for a couple of months (obviously beds etc will be provided for that duration).

If anyone has been in a similar boat, I would like to know your opinion on what you think is the most efficent and effortless thang to do.

we have just shipped all our stuff and are staying in the house for another couple of weeks

also staying with relatives for a couple of weeks so that makes 4 weeks so we shouild only have about 4 weeks left and in that time we ar getting new beds, cooker etc so just about right for us
