Hi
We were asked for our medicals mid December and were told that they had to be returned to Adelaide by mid March at the latest. Hope this helps Gavin. |

We applied for an extension as DIMIA said Andrew had to see 3 different specialists in relation to his diabetes. They then extended the deadline 'til 18.12.04 Hope this helps. Sarah |

Probably best to do a search for diabetics in the Oz forums as there have been a lot of posts on this subject re: medicals. The general concesus is that being a diabetic (whether type 1 or type 2) should not cause a rejection. However read the other threads for the full details. good luck Alex |

Don't worry about your daughter being diabetic. I think the only reason Andrew had to have so much done is because he has only recently been diagnosed and his doctor hadn't got round to all the various tests. He saw an endocronologist, then a nephrologist because he had raised levels of protein in his urine. DIMIA would have been happy with just these tests but the doctor doing meds thought he saw some spots (retinopathy) in Andrew's eyes. Three other doctors and an optometrist apparently missed these so we then had to see and opthalmologist and get pictures of his eyes. DIMIA were more than happy with this and requested our bond about a week after getting all meds. Hope this helps. Sarah N.B. I think I have spelt everything correctly, slapped wrist if I haven't lol. |
Re: Time Limits on Medical Requests
Admittedlt not exactly the same situation, but In our experience this is pretty flexible if you keep them informed. We had to put application on hold after the request for meds and police checks due to pregnancy. It took us over two months after the birth of our son before we got around to medicals. We kept Adelaide informed and it was not a problem.
We a just have tp get our passports stamped now :) |
