If your wife is a nurse who works full time and can passpoints test then she is better main applicant. You can do what you want when you get there.

Re: tiler
hi,
im a wall and floor tiler and had to follow the same path as you, we are currently waiting for the final say so from our case officer.
i had to get my aqf3, then tra, ielts and state sponsorship.
please look up "australian skills assessments" website, they helped me attain my aqf3, i only had 4 years experience so your 8 years should be a breeze.
private message me if you want anymore help.
cheers

Re: tiler
hi, for the aqf3 i had to submit work evidence .
eg photos, references etc
you need an aqf3 if you dont have formal qualifications to apply for a skills assessment this is conducted by a government body called "trade recognition australia" (tra). this is what gives you the points in the skills part of your application.
we are hoping to move to western australia and have gained state sponsorship to help us with this.
please look up the website "australian skills assessments" they specialise in helping you gain your aqf3 and we used them from then on for the entire process, although that was our choice.
we started the aqf3 process in febuary this year and it took about 12 weeks to complete, so its pretty quick as we are now just weeks away from hopefully getting our visa!
good luck and feel free to ask any questions.
