Many congratulations Angela. What a nice way to start the new year.

Re: Tiawamutu's House Build
There were things that weren't finished, and a contract was drawn up and money held, until they were done.
They are only minor things, and so we could move in before Christmas we agreed to let them be done later.

Hope they all get sorted quickly.

Re: Tiawamutu's House Build
It was part of the package, as it was an off the plan house. Everything was included, like blinds, paintwork, floor coverings. It was totally finished off (well it will be)

WOW - what a fantastic post, it has been great to read this from start to finish and see all those great pictures. Reading from the when the tap was on site to when you moved in has been great. I wish you every happiness in your lovely new home.
Now that you have done this, do you think you saved a lot of money on buying a finished house?

I feel that we have definitely saved money, as everything was finished the way we wanted it. Apart from missing a light switch, a couple of electric sockets, and the lack of underlay (which can be rectified, and we can live with) we are really happy, and can't see ourselves spending much money on the house in the near future (apart from a spa maybe )
If we'd bought an established house we probably would have had to change a few things until it was how we wanted it.
If we were to have another house built (heaven forbid! ) we would definitely do some things differently, as you do learn from experience.

Wise words, I will have to ask you for advice when we are doing ours, its amazing how much focus a thread like this can give people. Whenever I think things are slowing down I read a thread like this and get all excited again.

Don't worry everybody, I'm still here and haven't forgotten.
Hopefully soon I will have the house in some sort of order inside, and will be able to take some more snaps.
Fingers crossed that is soon....

Re: Tiawamutu's House Build
Here's some of the latest pics of the garden to keep you going.
Not shrunk down though I'm afraid, as I have forgotten how to use the programme right now, and I have just come off night shift and had no sleep for around 20 hours
We have already decided that we are going to have the fence in the first picture moved, as where it is now, we are losing 3 metres of garden It will be moved to the right hand side of the planted area in picture 2.
Will keep you posted on that subject
Will this thread ever end?

Nice fencing!
Aren't those exterior power sockets a pain to get the plugs into? <g>

As for the socket. We haven't had any trouble, but saying that we haven't used it very much yet. I'm a bit concerned though, that it's right on top of a retic point!
