Thunderstorms and electrical equipment...
Just thought I'd post a little advisory (apologies to those that I'm teaching to 'suck eggs') regarding your electrical equipment and electrical storms. Every electrical item in our house is on a surge protector - just as well given the electrical storms we've had over the last week or so. My Internet router is on a surge protector both for its power and the actual phone line. Despite all this, the storm still manage to bork the firmware to the point where it was non-functional and it took a day of reprogramming to get back up and running. My dad lives 10Km down the road and his router lost all its admin settings, though the firmware was fine. So - when it's thunder and lightning - don't just switch it off - unplug it from the wall.
