Three men face court over torture of backpacker
When you go out to the woods to play , watchout for the nice Aussies.
Police fear that a 19-year-old New Zealand backpacker who was allegedly tortured and raped over 16 hours by five men could have been murdered if a tip-off had not led them to him.
Amid fears that the latest in a series of incidents may damage Australia's reputation as a backpacker destination, the New Zealand Government described the attack on the man from Otago province as horrifying.
Two 26-year-old men and a 28-year-old man appeared in the Brisbane Magistrates Court yesterday in connection with the kidnapping. They were not required to enter pleas and were remanded to appear on September 1.
