Yes, and sheets are not necessarily the same size as UK- I bought a Queen sized bed set but it is UK KING sized!
Our rental cooker is useless- incinerates or gets up to tepid. Couldn't bring the oven as it was fitted!

We brought nothing
As a result we had to buy everything new
Which cost a fortune
And were the "cheapest" of everything
Which we are now replaing with better quality stuff (like what we left behind)
Bring everything.

That's a good point King and Queen size beds are reversed here in Oz, with the King size being the larger, which to be honest makes more sense than the UK version.

My biggest regret is not bringing *everything* with me. What can I say, madness takes a hold of you and you forget how long it took to build up that arsenal of gizmos in the kitchen drawer. We bought pretty much everything from new, which was nice in the sense that we had all new stuff (that matched!) but we could have lopped about $30k off the mortgage if we'd shipped, which is a sobering thought in this day and age.

Hi we brought nearly everything & yeah I think from a money point of view this cost less than replacement. I also wanted my things around me as I thought it would help me settle better. Jury still out on that one thou.

Hi again

Another thing I would have definitely bought was a vacuum cleaner, we left ours behind, as it was quite old anyway, but here its really hard to get an upright cleaner and I hate the LG cylinder one we bought, it's been back to LG twice already as it keeps breaking and we've had so much hassle with LG and the shop we bought it from! In hindsight, I would have bought a new one in the UK to ship over.

And the other item I thought of was a rotary washing line, they mostly do these ones you ifx onto your wall which I don't like, so had to spend over $300 on a rotary one, whne I could have got one at least half that price in the UK. Mind you, it is a good washing line, its huge and spins round really fast with the slightest bit of wind, you have to look out though as its caught me in the back of the head twice

Come on... shipping all your shit across? Just sell it all on ebay then re buy when you get there. Keeping all your stuff is boring. Your moving to a new country and your bringing all your stuff you mind as well stay in your last house lol

Its like camping- whats the point when people just take everything with them you mind as well stay in a hotel.

Get yourself back to Planet Playtime and let the adults talk about the real world.

If you are making a permanent move it is nice to have some of your posessions. Also not many of us have $30 000 to "waste " buying new stuff when our old stuff is perfectly serviceable/comfortable/quality/antique (take your pick).

By the way....there is no point to camping at all!!!!
