There can't have been much to remember back then! God knows, there's not a lot there even now!

Went on holidays with my parents and grandparents to Cairns and Port Douglas for the 1975 Christmas school holidays. Wasn't that much in Port Douglas...

PD is quite a bustling place these days, you should come up for a visit!

I just remember sleeping in a tin shed and having a really long journey by old landcruiser and a flight in a small cessna.

I went to Cooktown recently with work. It is very pretty but too small for me & too far away from Cairns! The flight on the small plane was great though

Probably a silly question I know, but is there any work in Cooktown?
Always wanted to live up there.... or maybe Port Douglas

It was a 12 ft by 14 ft tin roof with teatree bunks (tied together with flax). central fireplace with rocks from river. no running water, long drop outside.
Best time away in along time Possum and baked beans never tasted so good

I recently spent some time with my brother and his new hideaway holiday place. Its a full days advanced 4wd (winching every hour) through deep bush and equally deep fords. Then a 40 min trek where the combination of incline and thickness of bush makes it too difficult for trail/quad bikes let alone 4wd.

Last time I seen one of those, it made the track for the 4WDs.
