Default Third Party Car Insurance

I noticed, again, on another thread, a comment about the Compulsory Third Party Car Insurance CTP, so I think it time again to mention the facts on this.

Compulsory Third Party Car Insurance only covers Injury to people.

It does NOT cover any damage caused to another car, or a fence or anything other than damage to person.

The minimum insurance that you must have is this COMPULSORY third party cover.
This may be known by different names in the different Australian States.
In NSW it is normally called a "Green Slip", in Queensland it is known as CTP, in Tasmania MAIB ..., and it is not the same as you would get in the UK.
There are many drivers who could not pay for repairs to your car, if they hit you, because they only have that minimum cover.

It is advisable to have an additional cover.
Even if you do not wish to get Fully Comprehensive, you can always get....
Third Party Property, Fire and Theft Insurance covers you against accidental damage to other cars or property if you cause an accident.
