thinking of shipping car how much?
We are wondering if we could ship our car to Oz and how much that would cost - any idea?

Re: thinking of shipping car how much?
We were going to ship our cars over but could not get a value on the car until it had landed in oz
Some points to think about
Would you need to change anything to comply with oz spec? ie Speedo
Will insurance cost more, as it will be classed as an import.
Re sale value, again as it will be classed as an import.

There's nothing to stop you shipping your car to OZ but be mindful of the duties and taxes. Roughly speaking you'll need to pay approx. 20% of the value of the car and shipping costs. You can provide the valuation and present it Oz. customs providing its from an approved ford dealer in your case. You'll also need to get approval to ship which must be done before you ship. I think approval is from the equivalent of the DVLA in Oz, which is based in Canberra.
Your call at the end of the day basic sum though - cost of duties, taxes and shipping costs versus what a car will cost you in OZ less what you'll get for it if its sold in the UK.
Hope this helps.

The Focus C-Max is not available in OZ so you won't be able to get any body panels if you have an accident. Getting insurance will be a problem. Also if you have the C-Max Diesel the Focus TDCi engine is not available in any Ford product in Oz. The only incarnation of this engine is the 2.0 and 2.2 in the Transit Van, which is also available in the Mondeo, Galaxy and Jaguar X-Type in the UK.

1 - insurance will be hard to get, if not impossible
2 - parts will be damn hard in some cases, and the Ford ECU reader will have some difficulty
3 - you'll not be able to sell it as no-one will buy it
It's not that old so sell before you leave and understand you will not get what you want, but use the money and the exchange rate and you'll be wiser getting something in Aus.
