Career advice needed
Hi guys,
I hope this is in the right place, me and my partner are planning to head over to aus later this year,
Shes an australian citizen by birth therefore i will be applying for a partner visa which should be realtively straight forward from the research ive done,
i am currently a mechanical aircraft technician in the royal air force, with a HNC in mechanical engineering and 8 years work experience,
However i have recently contacted a recruiter who seems to believe my chances of gaining employment in aus are quite slim?
I was under the impression that there would be something for a mechanical technician with the adverts you see for technical trades?
Has anyone got any experience that could help me, or can provide a good careers advisor / recruiter in aus that could help me?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

In Australia the services of recruiters must be free to job applicants.

There is an issue with jobs in your occupation. I know people who have returned to the UK as a result as anything defence related often requires citizenship and a lot of none defense work has been off shored.

Rubbish. My wife was given defence clearance on a spousal visa.

Its not rubbish. He said OFTEN requires citizenship, which is quite true. Many defence jobs are only open to citizens, but some will accept visa holders.Depends on the job and the level of clearance required.
