Oh and Oz is beyond the control of the EU and it's daft laws.

It has just as many daft laws of its own though......

Brits like Australia because there is perceived familiarity and vice-versa. Obviously there are differences but each country for both groups is seen as a safe bet when deciding to make the move. That's not going to change any time soon.

Ok here's one for you....

The CSL/MODL/SOL lists are very backward looking and out of date, jobs that 'are in great shortage' are no longer, for example Australia is crying out for engineers apparently, well they were a year ago, now the place is flooded with out of work engineers and designers, so fast tracking more in isn't really going to help anyone.

I'd say quite a lot of aspects of Australia are ''very backward looking and out of date''!!!

Dont move to aus because its your spouses 'dream' but the idiot has never actually been there.

Makes me laugh. I actually moved to Australia because I liked Australia. Funny that!

Most of the issues stem from tradies already having a license. What they fail to realise is they may have a UK license which got them here through skills assessment, however they are unable to work here until they have obtained an Aussie license - which they sometimes have to train for at additional time and money.

There is an anomaly in the system though, that people can pass their skills assessment for their visa but are then unable to get licensed without further training. This doesn't happen with nursing & it shouldn't be allowed to happen for the trades. I really do believe that this is an area that needs to be reviewed quite urgently.

I agree mate, that's why I elaborated on it;)

Most tradies understandably believe if they've qualified to get here then they're qualified to work here. As we all know, that's not true. This causes no end of heartache and mismanaged expectations especially since it's not always widely known.
