Things you can do now.......
......to prepare for living in Australia.
Try these things now and by the time you get there it will be home from home
Start buying a different brand of soap poder and fabric conditioner every week. Buy the one you wouldn't normally buy and rotate that choice on a regular basis. No more missing the smell of you washing when you get there.
Save up a weeks worth of washing, turn off all heating and try to get it dry (prepares you for winter with no Central heating
Log on the the computer and listen to an australian radio station all day everyday. prepares you for what it is like to listen to australians talking all day.
go to a joke shop and aquire 20 plastic insects, any sort will do. then ask a close friend (preferably some one who already thinks your nuts) to come round and hide them in different places each week. no peeking now, we need the shock factor
look at the thread 'phrases that confuse the locals' (sorry don't know how to do a link) and use the aussie equivelent to normal everyday words. No one here will understand you but hey, who cares.
start being frugal with phone. only phone your mum/dad/sister/brother once a week. they may stop talking to you thinking that you have lost the plot, but hey, it is all good practice.
and finally pick an aisle in the supermarket and stand there trying to choose, oh i don't knw, lets say gravy, for 20 minuits. this will prepare you for the first couple of shopping trips and harden you to the fact that you have prepared a v tasty dinner which is now unedable because no one like the gravy you have just poured all over it.
i am now a fully fledged aussie even though we are still in welling
Good on ya for trying

You could go and fish a supermarket trolley from out of the canal and practise steering that too
