Things to do while waiting?
Hi,
Visa application goes tomorrow.
Just wondering what advice any can give relating to things to do (emigration related) while waiting the estimated 8 months until I fly out
I've come up with the following:
1. Put house up for sale T minus 5 months (move in with parents if I sell early)
Power of attorney the house with my folks if it hasn't sold in 8 months.
2. Sell all crap on Ebay (including furniture)
3. Figure out once and for all if I can ship my car WITH persnal belongings in it (due to well meant but conflicting advice on this forum)
4. Work out when to start trying for a baby (after meds I guess)
5. Work out when to have meds/Police checks
6. Sort out pension stuff (Is it 10 or is it 11 years contribtuions, do qualify for mi state pension).
7. Work out how to claim tax back for unused personal allowance? (Can I do this from abroad)?
8. Set up Oz bank account
9. Watch the Xchange rate and get depressed.
10. Spend many hours on realestate.com.au
11. Work out the meaning of 'Melbourne is a very European city'...and once I've figured it out...decide whether I really need to travel 12K miles for something I have on my right here.

Forget the rest of the list and move straight on to point 4. You know it makes sense - time will fly by - lol

If you are serious about 4. - think about waiting until you are already there.
Do you really want to fly with morning sickness?
You also run the small risk of miscarriage by flying during first trimester.
I don't want to sound like doom and gloom but moving country is such a big stress. Hold off a few months and then you can really enjoy your pregnancy.

eat up the contents of the store cupboards, then start to only buy what we will eat in that week!
