Things to do in Sydney whilst working???
Hi there
Can anyone help me? I'm living in Brisbane but have been asked to go and do some work in Sydney for a few days. Can anyone recommend tourist things I could do or see in Sydney on an evening? I'll be busy doing UK & AUS tax return consultations between 9am and 4pm so will have the evenings to myself so would like to see the sights of Sydney. I'm hoping if I get enough work I can stay for the weekend also :D Any ideas would be great :) Thanks Shell |

You can do the Bridge Climb 24 hours a day, I believe. Try to time it for twilight and you'll get to see Sydney by day and night.

Get the ferry from Darling Harbour and go have a nosey around there. On the journey, it will take you under the bridge and past the Opera House, which is of course, gorgeous to look at in the evening when it's floodlit. You should get some nice pics.
You might want to go to Doyles for dinner if you're into seafood? The museum of contemporary art is in The Rocks area - which you'd have an hour or so at if you were so inclined. http://www.mca.com.au/ If you are here the weekend, pop up to the Blue Mountains on the train, get off at Katoomba and do the sights, then stroll into Leura and go to the Deli for lunch. |

I'm hoping if I get enough work I can stay for the weekend also :D Any ideas would be great :) Thanks Shell Get down to Circular Quay Hop on the Neutral Bay ferry. On the way, enjoy the view of the city behind, OH to your right, bridge to your left and Admiralty House & Kirribilli House in front. Get off at the first stop, Kirribilli point, walk up the hill till you get to T junction, turn L and wander down to John Howard's house. Turn R and walk along the Kirribilli 'dress circle' of overpriced apartments, you'll come out opposite the OH and under the bridge. Turn R again and head up in to Kirribilli village for a drink at the Kirribilli Hotel and a bite to eat at any of the great restaurants. Try Garfish if you like to eat fish, and you might even see local celebrity Alf Stewart (Home & Away). He lives near by and we've seen him there twice. Or go to Stir Crazy for some great and cheap Thai. There's a handy bottle'o next door. Wander back down to the harbour, bearing R under the bridge to the water's edge, You'll find yourself next to a great pool and in front the grinning face of Luna Park. Take a ride if you feel up to it. Jump on any of the city bound ferries on the wharf right there(Milsons Point), first stop Circular Quay. Enjoy the city lights, don't forget to look behind you at Luna Park! Or if you've still got life left in you, from Milsons Point you can get a ferry to Darling Harbour and wander round all the tourist attractions - Aquarium, IMAX etc.... (it's better than it sounds) and grab a few drinks. It's a 20 minute walk back in to the city or you can get on the monorail. |

Re: Things to do in Sydney whilst working???
A couple of things:
- A walk around the Sydney Opera House and Botanical Gardens (Theres some big enormous bats in the trees in the Gardens) - A ferry ride to Manly, see the harbour etc - A ferry ride to Darling Harbour via Luna Park (Good for a bite to eat and a walk around the harbour) - Finish off in the Opera bar and have a few swift ones!! I am landing in Sydney on saturday night for a few nights, when are you there? I wouldn't mind doing the Bridge climb if I can keep the alcohol levels low enough! cheers |
