I used Ozforex, can't fault them. We rang them Monday to transfer the money over and it was in the account on Tuesday. Got a pretty good rate too. :)

What happens if you've used both? (there's always one ;))
Tranzfers used many times and always a good service back and forth.

I nearly used Ozforex/Tranzfers, does that count?

The account was set up, I moved the money across, decided not to proceed (rate was terrible at the time), demanded the fee back as I didn't actually exchange, got it back.

I have also set up an account with Hifx - when it comes to it, whoever offers the best rate will get my dosh.

Tranzfers offer the best rate but you can't lock in a rate and they charge a fee.

We're using Ozforex.

It looks like OzForex will get our money as the forms for HiFX have just come through today.

Thanks to everyone.

So how does it work ?You have the money in your own bank (from house sale etc)Then when you are ready to transfer you use one of these companies to transfer it over to your Aussie Bank?
Sorry but I'm clueless when it comes to money.
For some reason I thought I could transfer it from Nat West to Commonwealth Bank myself ??

Your bank can probably do it for you but you'll be given a rubbish rate. With OzForex you set up an internet account and then within the account you fill in the details of the destination bank account in Oz. Then you phone up their dealers to set up the trade and desposit money straight into their account. A few days later it arrives in your account and you are a few thousand dollars better off than you would have been with Natwest :)
Set it up early though as you need to fax or post them proof of identity. If you're still not sure give them a call they are really helpful on the phone.
Cheers
Martyn
