Are there too many Australia sub-forums
 

Is anyone else missing meets, not welcoming newbies, or not reading updates before as there are too many sub-forums?

Or do you only want to meet people in cyberspace, glad you don't have to mix with the freshers or don't care what happened to that person you used to chat to 12 months ago?

Quite agree I have voiced this concern before as well.

Plus everything working slower on here so you don't want to go into unecessary places.

There are a few too many now I think. I preferred it before the introduce yourself and the update subforum appeared. But then if there were also lots of people complaining about there being too many 'got it's', 'I'm new' posts etc etc so I guess you can't please everyone :)


Maybe we should have a BE comittee :D

I eagerly await the following sub-forums:

• Lettuce is a rip-off
• Got it!!!!111!!1
• Shipping [Possibly with a sub-sub-forum just for people asking if they should ship everything or start from scratch]
• Water down the plughole
• My son/daughter/husband/wife isn't settling in/is getting bullied/can't find work
• Cheese
• Mooncups

I can see where youre coming from, but, because the Australia forums are so popular(I think half of the UK wants to live there!), without all the sub-forums there would be so many posts to trawl through half of them would probably never get read!

Here are my thoughts:

1. I really like the new "Update Forum".
I love to read the stories on the first few weeks/months/year in Oz. These are my favourite threads to read :) .Up to now I've probably missed a few of these threads as I can't read BE every day, and when I come back I rarely have the time to read beyond page 3. Now I can go straight to the new forum to read the stories and I won't miss any as there aren't that many per day/week.

2. Meet Ups
Again, I like the idea of all the threads on meets in one section. Easy to quickly check if any meets are happening in my area.

3. Barbie
Good idea to have a general chat area. And calling it the "barbie" was quite witty I thought. :)

4. G'Day Mate
Looked in there once when it first appeared. Haven't looked back in there since. As far as I am concerned, I get to know new posters when they start posting in the other sections. This isn't a dating site, so i don't see why we need a section for biographical details. The "profile" is sufficient for that. (But I don't mind it being there! As with everything else on the internet: I am quite capable to decide what I click on and what I ignore.)

Personally, especially after today, I reckon we should have a sub-forum just for Arkon's posts. Then he can rant and rave in there to his heart's content without bothering anyone - we can all just ignore him :D

I like the Barbie being seperate and I can see the need for Meet ups to be seperate as they seem to be taking on a life of their own.
I'm not sure about the updates one being seperate although if it encourages people to sit down and post updates than that can only be a good thing.:)
I very rarely read the introduction one.
Actually -I voted that there were too many forums but now I have thought about it is does seem quite sensible to have them. :o

I voted too many but that doesn't mean there should not be any (if you see what i mean!)

Splitting the barbie chatting from the Australia lifestyle makes sense but do we really need a forum for new members?

I find that i read a new forum for a while but after a couple of weeks i forget to go back in. :o

FFS! Last year members were complaining there were not enough sub-forums. One poster requested that the administrators setup region specific sbuforums for a a handfull of posters in that area. can't please everybody though.

Friend of mine has never posted on here.
She is a nurse and wants advice on visas.
Would like to meet people in similar circumstances.
She has been here several months and would like to discuss her new life but unfortunately she is prone to rabbitting on about drivel.
Can also be quite controversial especially on sport.

Told her it's no problem. Just start a thread in the...........

Immigration, Barbie, Lifestyle, Nurses, G'day mate, Meet ups, Update, TIO and Locker room forums. :D
